Unschooling parents are both very involved and very uninvolved. They are very involved in recognizing their children’s distinct interests and individual approaches to learning and actively facilitate these interests and learning by helping to connect them to broader resources. But they are also very uninvolved in terms of giving their children a lot of freedom, not hovering over them as they learn and grow, and encouraging them to explore and make sense of the world on their own terms. Unschooling parents are very attentive to their children’s ideas and well-being, and they are also able to let go and give their children the freedom to learn.
