Thread spools are handy loose parts for block play, ramp play, dramatic play, craft projects, lacing, and more. They will be utilized in a wide range of play schema including trajectory, rotation, scattering, transporting, and positioning. The plastic ones are durable, and best for water play, but the old school wood ones tend to be more interesting to look at and have a bit more heft to them.
