The Homework Myth | Quote 03338

Quote

We know from both research and real-world experience that the policy of denying diplomas on the basis of a single standardized test score has resulted in more students dropping out—or being pushed out. We also know that the burden has disproportionately fallen on poor kids, kids of color, kids whose first language isn’t English, and kids with special needs. Put plainly, this policy threatens to create nothing short of an educational ethnic cleansing in America. And yet it continues, propped up with slogans like “accountability” and “raising the bar.”
