Tape roll cores can be used as loose parts in art projects, sensory play, dramatic play, block play, ramp play, lacing, and more. They come in a wide range of diameters and widths, providing much variety.
Back in my center director days, we let parents know that we wanted cores in all sizes and shapes. Within days, empty rolls started showing up a few at a time until we had a nice collection.
They were plopped into the play spaces and eagerly used as bracelets, wheels, blocks, telescopes, and more. They were decorated in the art area and deteriorated in water play. And parents kept us well supplied.
