Quote
Sometimes children, and adults, laugh when they aren’t supposed to, such as at a funeral, or if someone trips on the street and hurts himself, or during a lecture on war crimes. This is a natural response, a release of fear, embarrassment, and tension through laughter. While we do need to be sensitive to other people’s feelings, and no one likes to be laughed at or to hear someone laugh at things we hold sacred, we also need to understand the nature of human emotion. Laughter is a spontaneous way to release strong emotion, even when something isn’t funny.
