Paper towels are versatile classroom additions that are useful for everything from experimenting with absorbency to cleaning mud off your elbows.
The fact that children can use them for everything from STEM learning to art projects to self-care earns them preeminent loose parts status. With the help of a few bits of masking tape, they also make excellent baby doll diapers.
You can’t go wrong with a centrally located, child-accessible roll of paper towels for kids to use as they deem necessary. My experience is that you will go through many of them when they’re new “bright shiny objects “ in the classroom, but after a few weeks, kids will get used to them, and their use will decrease.
