Mud Play

At first glance, mud play may not look like a school readiness activity. But if you look closer, you’ll find lots of learning under the messy muck. Research indicates that young children learn best during self-directed and hands-on activities like mud play. Such play is inherently messy, but it’s worth the mess since it offers so many learning opportunities. Plus, it’s fun—and mood matters when it comes to learning.
