At first glance, kitchen sinks don’t seem to be the loosest of loose parts, since they just kind of sit there. But think the variable action that goes on round them when paired with things like water, mud, sponges, dish cloths, and imagination.
Like slides and sandboxes, sinks serve as play anchors–places where playful action takes place. Inside or outside, these anchors add a lot of activity to an early learning setting.

Here are a trio of sinks I picked up from a local junk shop over the years and repurposed for play.
