You can’t beat hand mixers for stirring up fun in a play environment. They add an interesting twist to water play, sensory play, dramatic play, and other child-led activities. Something as simple as pairing one of these hand-cranked wonders with a dishpan full of water and a squirt of liquid soap can lead toddlers to giggle with glee.
They take a bit of coordination to master, but most young children figure them out quickly. Pro-tip: Lubricate the moving parts every few months with mineral oil–more frequently if the mixers live outside. It’ll keep them turning, and the oil is food safe if kids happen to ingest some. Children can totally handle this task with a bit of support.
