Cotton balls are useful for more than bunny tails and sheep’s wool in cookie-cutter craptivities. When released into the wilds of a child-led play environment, there’s a good chance they’ll serve as snow in winter-themed small world play, end up soggy from water play, get mixed with mud and other sensory play concoctions, be thrown into the air to simulate snow, rain, or hail, and much more.

Sure, these light-weight puffs will be a pain to clean up at the end of playtime, but, considering the amount of play and exploration they will generate, they’re worth the effort.
