Cookie Cutters

Cookie cutters will really leave an impression as loose parts. Especially if you use them to make real cookies. But even if no cookies are mixed, cut, decorated, baked, and consumed, these things are much fun. You can set them loose in the dramatic play area, or kids can trace them in the art area, or they can use them to cut cookies from play dough, mud, and other sensory concoctions.

One the sciency side of things, cookie cutters are wedges, one of the six classic simple machines. So they’ll even be of interest to kids more interested in STEM play than art projects or baking.
