Space flight and safe return of astronauts depends on knowledge, research and a whole lot more. If the people in ground control scrapped the research and just went on fear, the astronauts would be in a whole lot of trouble.

This is what we have done to early childhood education.

We have scrapped what all of the great brains (Froebel, Piaget, Gardner, Vygotsky and so many more) spent so much time studying and researching because of fear.

And saying 90% of a child’s brain development happens before the age of 5, without following it up with an explanation of how young children learn (play) places more fear. And, because play is seen as frivolous by adults, we have to follow up the word ‘play’ with a definition of what play is.

Why do adults in decision making seats completely disregard the research? Disregarding how young children learn is like throwing out the manual and computers when navigating astronauts to space from ground control. It is a disaster happening before our eyes.
