A manufactured weapon is a single purpose toy and directs the child in how to play with it. A toy gun is to be pointed and shot and indeed there is not a lot else that can be done with it. The toy determines the play, not the child. Constructing a weapon, however, involves an initial act of imagination and transformation and…one such act can lead to others.
