As I’ve mentioned before, according to Simon Nicholson, loose parts are more than physical objects. They include concepts, like Under.

Helping kids bump up against the concept is simple. You do it by simply providing other loose parts that they can use to experience it for themselves. Boxes, pool noodles, branches, blankets, wading pools, pillows, and such work well. If they have access to such materials, they will soon grasp the concept
