Twist ties are thin bits of wire sandwiched in plastic or paper strips, and as loose parts they have a lot to offer. For example, Aloysius might like using them in craft projects to hold sticks together or Seamus might like looping them together to make chains. All the tie twisting is great for building small muscle and visual systems.
One of the amazing things about the modern world is that you can order rolls of twist ties (affiliate link) and cut them to whatever length you need. Back in the day, if I required them for a project, I’d have to collect them from loaves of bread over the course of weeks and months.
The late 70s was a darker time. Today’s kids live in a world of abundance, where they can tie twists whenever they like.
