Quote
Children of four or five tend to think that adults are all-knowing, all-powerful, godlike creatures. Once they get to be six or seven, however, children acquire new mental abilities that enable them to check out what adults say and do. When they discover, as they inevitably do, that we don’t know one particular thing, they conclude that we don’t know anything. And because they know something we don’t know, they think that they know everything and we know nothing!
