The Visual System Simplified

This handout looks at the visual system, which allows the brain to process and interpret light to form images. Light enters through the eye and is converted into electrical signals by photoreceptor cells in the retina before traveling to the brain for interpretation, enabling recognition of shapes, colors, movement, and spatial relationships. This is the fourth in a series of Play Simplified handouts examining the 8 sensory systems. These handouts provide simple definitions of common early learning concepts and ways to support them.
