Supporting school readiness with all weather play builds skills, supports learning, and more. Outside play, even in imperfect weather, offers bountiful opportunities for learning-rich play and exploration. Outside play when it’s rainy, snowy, cold, hot, or windy provides even more beneficial learning and developmental opportunities. Young children’s access to such play is often curtailed by adults who don’t want to deal with dressing kids for the weather, believe outside play in harsh weather is unhealthy, or would rather stay comfortably inside.
