Stunning Bridge Walk | Play Sighting 0033

There it was, on a normal day, in front of an average house, on a standard corner lot, in an ordinary neighborhood, a stunning bridge walk. The bridge walker, a girl of 9 or 10, skittered up the sidewalk in front of her house like a giant inverted land crab. It was stunning to see, it took my brain a moment to figure out what it was looking at. Continuing her skitter, she turned into the driveway, sped up the incline, rotated 180 degrees, and transformed into an upright human child. Then she smiled and waved at me and the pups as we headed down the sidewalk.

Stunning Bridge Walk Wrap Up

I don’t know what was most impressive, that she could move so quickly in that position or that she could go from bridge to standing in a single fluid movement. I feel old and stiff imagining doing the same with my body.

Throughout the summer, the dogs and I saw many a stunning bridge walk. That’s not entirely true. After a while, it was just a bridge walk, no longer stunning. Just one of those things one sees when walking the neighborhood. That kid was outside upside down a lot: bridges, flips, cartwheels, summersaults, handstands—quite the gymnast.
