Artistic creativity can enable children to express feelings that are too big to be encompassed by conventional forms of communication, feelings that the environment can engender in all of us. Whether it is something big like the glory of a morning, or something small like the discovery of a tiny bug, the feelings are so big as to be difficult to express, particularly for children whose vocabulary is still restricted by their experiences. Having another medium to support that expression can enable them to develop their understanding and to assimilate the feelings into their developing cognition.
