Children seem to have a strong affinity for nature….Indeed, many of the great Romantic poets—Wordsworth, Blake, Shelley, and others—looked back on childhood as a time when wind, brooks, grass, and other elements seemed to sing, speak, and move with them. Between the child and nature, Wordsworth wrote, there is a “primal sympathy,” and nature provides the child with both comfort and ceaseless wonders.
