There are many reasons adults interrupt children’s play. Sometimes these interruptions are necessary; sometimes, they are not.
Interrupting children’s play can have significant impacts on their development. Understanding why adults do it and whether it’s necessary can help create better play environments for children. Not all interruptions are required. Recognizing the importance of uninterrupted play for physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development helps adults decide when and how to intervene.
