Rain

As a loose part, rain offers kids a chance to engage in stimulating sensory play, explore STEM concepts, hone physical skills, and build exciting fantasy play adventures.

Yet, too often, kids are actively restricted from exploring this natural phenomenon. Adults worry getting wet will make kids sick or fret about the mess of soggy clothing.

Play-focused settings should see it as a learning opportunity and exclaim, “It’s raining, lets go outside!” instead of, “Sorry, no outside time today.”
