Why Mesh Poufs?

Run, don’t walk, to your nearest dollar store for multiple mesh poufs. They’re useful in dramatic play, craft projects, sensory play, STEM play, and more. Plus, they are a safe-to-throw-and kick item for those kids deep into exploration of the trajectory schema.

Years ago, I got a good deal on the cart full of the colorful things pictured below. It was one of those clearance price situations that’s hard to walk past. We didn’t need that many, but over time they were used in all kinds of interesting ways by the kids in our family child care program.

I love these and also have collected a great assortment. I’d love to know how they were used by your kids. my kids use them on the light table to wrap objects like glass beads, as doll clothes and in play with clay and straws. Any other ideas would be be greatly appreciated!

    1. They were mostly used as things to throw in our program, but they found their way into all kinds of dramatic play, water play, art projects, ramp play, and superhero play as well.
