X-rays-as-loose-parts will spice up dramatic play, light table play, and more. It’s likely these things will spark lots of interesting questions and creative dramatic play. I’ve also seen them used in craft projects: cut up, traced, highlighted, painted, and glued to create wondrous works of art. You can purchase them via some early learning catalogs, and can also find them from time to time at thrift stores and yard sales. I had the best luck collecting them simply by putting the word out that I was seeking them–word of mouth did wonders and resulted in offers of human and pet x-rays. Nothing sparks Going To The Veterinarian play like seeing pictures of the insides of sick puppies and kitties.
