Paperclips

Paperclips–they’re good for sorting, chaining, arranging, bending, and more. These small bits come with some potential hazard, but with proper supervision and hazard mitigation they can be safe for kids to use for playing and learning. They are great with magnets–if you have magnets, you need stuff for them to attract. And they’re great for honing visual tracking, hand-eye coordination, and small muscle skills. I once saw an almost three-year-old spend hours connecting these things to make a chain that stretched across the room–and then separating them to put them away.
