Composite decking is weather resistant and won’t splinter or rot, which is great for outdoor PLAY environments. It’s become very popular in the last decade or so. From balance beams to castle construction, kids will figure out all kinds of ways to use the stuff.
You can buy it new and cut long pieces to size, or contact a local builder and ask them for scrap pieces after their next deck project.
