About The Limbic System
According to the Queensland Brain Institute, the limbic system is, “the part of the brain involved in our behavioural and emotional responses, especially when it comes to behaviours we need for survival: feeding, reproduction and caring for our young, and fight or flight responses.” This structure is deep in the brain above the brain stem and below the cerebral cortex.
The limbic system processes input from the sensory systems and relays it to other brain areas. It also plays a part in long-term memory and olfaction.
