If the answer is to increase childhood stress, to provide low-quality or irrelevant data to politicians and administrators, to squander billions of dollars on unproductive or unproven learning interventions, and to make little or no sustained positive impact on childhood learning and on reducing achievement gaps, then we as a society are doing an excellent job with our schools.
