Kids are more likely to do chores willingly if they feel that we truly need and welcome their help, that we are not simply giving them chores to teach them lessons or because we don’t want to do the chores ourselves. If cleaning the room is seen only as a means to a reward, there is little chance that Samantha will find any challenge, joy, or satisfaction from having completed the chore itself.
