Keys are a grand addition to loose parts play that kids will use for dramatic play, craft projects, making music, lacing, and more. For a long time, kids were drawn to playing with them because they were a symbol of power–they started cars and unlocked doors. Every year, more and more items are unlocked electronically. A few generations from now, kids might have no idea what keys were used for.
