Quote
Adults frantically want children to get along. We see trouble in the world, we’ve experienced pain in social relationships ourselves, and we want to spare our kids. We wish children could act like superior beings who get along all the time. We tell a group of children they are all friends. We order children to play with another child. While anger scares us and conflict discomforts us, social rejection downright terrifies us.
