Hula-hoops encourage active play as children experiment with different ways to twirl, spin, roll, and toss them. Whether they’re mastering the skill of hula hooping or incorporating them into imaginative games, they provide endless opportunities for physical activity and fun. One day, the hoops may be used as bases in some kid-invented ball game. The next, they are time machine portals. The day after that they’re rolled down the slide to laughs and cheers.
Hula-hoops also promote social interaction and cooperative play as children engage in friendly competitions or collaborate on choreographed routines.
What’s not to like? They build physical skills, social skills, and proprioceptive awareness.
