Lev Vygotsky’s (1896-1934)Social Development Theory has dramatically impacted how we educate children. His theory, a cornerstone of constructivism, asserts the importance of Social Interaction, The More Knowledgeable Other, and The Zone Of Proximal Development.

Vygotsky is well thought of in the early learning world, but his work is criticized. For example, some scholars question his informal research methods, think he underemphasized individuals, or question whether his ideas are culturally universal.
