A risk is something children can observe, evaluate, and choose–even though it may cause harm. It’s important to support children in taking thoughtful, developmentally appropriate risks. Early learning settings must support children in honing their ability to skillfully see and judge risks—and then decide to take or avoid them. Building these skills requires lots of real-world practice.
