Castoff plastic gift cards and key cards are loose parts that kids will find plenty of ways to use. I’ve seen them used as hotel keys, gift cards, credit cards, and ATM cards. Kids love to play adult, and those are all things for which adults would us such items. I’ve also seen them used as cheese, phones, blocks, playing cards, and Ninja Turtle throwing stars. Kids have also used them to create their own memory games and to make roads for toy cars–they are a very versatile item. Another reason to like them as loose parts are that they add a bit of environmental print to the play.
