Quote

Too often youth in our society are entertained and educated by adults whose main function is to keep them busy. Adults drive them places, provide lessons, maintain their homes and cheer them on at soccer games. From a child’s perspective it might seem that adults work for, even pander to, children. That puts youth in an uncomfortable position of power. Somehow we have placed children in the spotlight, the pivot around which activities revolve. Considering this fact, it’s astonishing that more children aren’t obnoxiously self-centered and imperious.
