In tiny squares or big billowing sheets, fabric is an engaging loose part that’ll spark all kinds of play ideas.
Kids’ll build forts and fairy wings with it. They’ll envelop themselves in it and use it to capture the wind. It’ll become superhero capes, and it will be used to wrap and nurture baby dolls. They can cut it, glue it, tape it, clamp it, staple it, throw it, twist it, pull it, fold it, stitch it, and more. From process-focused craft projects to STEM-rich science experiments, it’s a valuable classroom asset.

Since it’s available in so many colors, patterns, texture, and sizes, fabric is the loosest of loose parts–there are so many ways to use it. It’s also readily available, easy to clean, and easy to store.
