Preschoolers are much more able to control their physical movements than toddlers. But they are by no means masters at control and coordination. They still need plenty of opportunities to move their bodies in big and small ways. However, adults often start to limit movement at this age. Preschool classrooms are often designed to prevent open areas. As any preschool teacher knows, if there is an open area, some children are going to run.
