…memorizing composers’ faces and names (yes, there are flash cards like this) is a useless experience for a toddler or preschooler who cannot connect this information to anything meaningful in her world. Even flash cards with color names or numbers don’t build competencies if they are not part of a child’s everyday experiences. Furthermore, there is no evidence that these early learning experiences improve the brain.
