One of the hardest things in parenting is parenting a child whose temperament is not much like your own. If you were shy as a child and your child is outgoing, that might be delightful but strange for you. If you were outgoing and your child is shy and slow to warm up, that might make you feel even more uncomfortable. Try not to force your children to do things that they are uncomfortable with; instead, simply offer encouragement.
