Or almost free. There are lots of apps that’ll turn your phone or tablet into a digital recorder for free or a little more. On the upside, they work well and mean you don’t have another device to manage. On the downside, it would mean kids messing with your device and all those physical buttons on the stand-alone recorders make them a richer sensory experience.
