Overview

This handout explains the 7 steps in conducting a rolling review of early learning policies and procedures.

Instead of facing the arduous task of reviewing and updating your program’s policies and procedures all at once every couple of years, a rolling review makes it an ongoing process.

Based on my experience and conversations with other caregivers over the last 20 years, such reviews are often put off, avoided, and hurried through because the process is so taxing. This results in outdated, ineffective, and incomplete policies and procedures.

Conducting a rolling review is less taxing. For example, you may create a schedule where one policy and its related procedures are reviewed each month. This process is less stressful and leads to healthier policies and procedures.

The 7 Steps

The 7 rolling review steps are:

  • Select The Policy For Review
  • Gather Information
  • Conduct The Review
  • Draft And Share Revisions
  • Finalize And Approve
  • Implement And Monitor
  • Document The Process
