Boots are fun loose parts because they are made for walking…and running, and splashing, and stomping, and filling, and hauling, and throwing, and painting, and planting, and more.
They make engaging environmental variables because there’s so much kids can do with them. Tying, tracing, sorting, arranging, shaking, and dumping, for example. They offer lots of opportunity to pretend to be bigger, more powerful, or someone different. They also come in endless colors, styles, and sizes–that means more variations and variety.
Plus, watching a toddler slip on a giant pair of boots and clomp across a room is a delight.
