The auditory system…and vestibular system are housed right beside each other in the inner ear. Therefore, they can significantly influence one another. In fact, moving around stimulates the auditory receptors, and any time you hear a sound you also stimulate the vestibular ( gravity) receptors. This is why moving and swinging are often good strategies to use to get children with speech and language needs to start vocalizing more (Biel and Peske 2009).
