When considering equipment such as bouncers, walkers, slings, baby carriers, and backpacks, the question is “Whose need is being served?” Very often these devices serve the adult’s need to hold a baby captive so that they can make dinner or take a shower. Of course, there are times when it’s necessary for your baby to be in a car seat, carriage, or stroller, when you’re traveling or doing errands. But none of these devices are ideal, because they inhibit your baby’s free and natural movement. If your baby looks uncomfortable in a device, then he is.
