An Advocate For Play Is Not Status Quo

I’m not special. What is inside of me is inside of you. If you believe in the power of play and have welcomed play based learning into your life, you have taken on a challenge. By choosing play, we choose to go against the status quo of worksheets, criss cross applesauce, rote memorization, flash cards, teacher directed activities, calendar time, and the general view of what teaching and learning look like. By choosing play, you have unknowingly stepped into the role of play advocate. Welcome. I am glad you are here.

An advocate for play is not status quo. An advocate for play is not basic. An advocate for play is a deconstructer of the boxes society has created around education. Welcome. We need more of us.

Let’s work together to challenge the status quo. To challenge the basic of the traditional and industrialized version of teaching and learning. Let’s work together to show the world that early childhood is meant to be loud and big and emotional and social and movement and wild and muddy and smelly and intense and
funny and moody and lovely and, and, and…

What is inside of me is inside of you. So let it out. Wild things up. Rattle the world. Because we can’t make change unless we challenge the status quo. We are #educationtroublemakers
