Johann Pestalozzi (1746–1827) was greatly influenced by Rousseau’s ideas about the nature of the child and implemented them a generation later. Among the great educational reformers, Pestalozzi was the first to establish a school for children, personally teach them, and apply the ideas of earlier reformers, representing a new era in education.
