A discouraging trend in early education…is the pushdown of “platooning” from the older elementary and middle school grades all the way to kindergarten. This practice, which requires children as young as five and six to leave the classroom each day for instruction from separate teachers for different subjects, makes it even harder for an early childhood teacher to know her children well and to meet their needs.
