I don’t know what I would do without you.” The comment doesn’t leave much room for a healthy, honest, open dialogue. “You are a wonderful big sister to your new brother” doesn’t open the door for Maria to talk about how upset she was this morning that Mom didn’t seem to have any time for her anymore.
